Raksha bandhan 2017: Muhurat

Rakshabandhan, this year, i.e., in 2017 is falling on 7th August, 2017 ; Monday. This year, the auspicious time or muhurat for tieing Rakhi is between 11:07 a.m. and 01:50p.m .. As per Vedic astrology, everything is done according to the auspicious time for it so as to accomplish the task taken up and derive the best outcome from the work done. Tieing Rakhi is also an auspicious thing and should be done in auspicious timing only. this year, this time is of a short duration because Partial Lunar eclipse /Chandra grahan is also falling on the very same date. Lunar eclipse timing is 10:52p.m. and it will last till 12:22 am. falling on the next date, i.e, 08th August, 2017. Sootak starts 9 hours before the eclipse and no auspicious work is done during this time. All brothers and sisters are advised to take care of this auspicious timing and manage their plans well ahead in time. Have a blessed festival. It is an Indian festival celebrated throughout the length and breadth of the nation. It is originally a Hindu festival, but India is a nation of varied religions. We, the people of India have varied religious beliefs. And the festivals have now become so socially acceptable that people happily celebrate them beyond the boundaries of their religious and cultural practices. Raksha Bandhan is originally being celebrated by people belonging to other religions than the ones from where its origin stems out. On this auspicious day, the sister, either elder or younger ties an auspicious thread called Rakhi on the wrist of her brother. This signifies that a knot of protection (Raksha) has now been tied on the brother's wrist and he has now entered into a bond (Bandhan) to protect his sister throughout his life from all evens and odds.
